I can’t wait to run around my yard with my shoes off, and play kick ball with my nieces and nephews! I used to think getting my lawn ready for the spring and summer seasons was a huge task, but after doing so a few times I have it down to a science!
My dog has a tendency to cause damage to a few areas of my yard, so I like to use a lawn patch to fix up the spots that are a bit unsightly. The Safer® Brand Magic Start® Grass Patch Transition is a great product and is so easy to use. I clear the area of leaves, sticks, or excess dirt and sprinkle on the product. After watering to activate it, the area will become bright green. Water the spot every day for about a week and in no time you’ll have new grass emerging and your lawn will start to fill in.
To prevent weeds in my lawn I use Concern® Weed Prevention Plus. The corn gluten in this product will inhibit seed germination and, when used properly, can control 90% of crabgrass in the first year. It is very effective on dandelions and broadleaf weeds as well, but generally requires two seasons to gain 90% control of these weeds.
Most lawns need to be fed at least 4 times per year – April, late May, August, and October. I use an organic fertilizer, like Ringer® Lawn Restore® Fertilizer, to work with my soil and grass to create a thick, lush lawn that is drought and disease resistant. This fertilizer feeds my lawn only when it needs it, so I feel confident that my yard is being treated with quality organic materials, and not synthetic counterparts that are unable to break down in the natural habitat.
