As i mentioned in my previous post, My first garden pest…stink bugs!!, my garden has been under attack most of the year. Not to mention the less then ideal weather we have been experiencing in the Northeast delaying the harvest of many of my produce. With weather issues aside (that is a post for a WHOLE ‘nother time) i have had my share of common pests attacking my garden, but NOTHING like i would expect would be attacking my favorite plant (other then my strawberry plants).
A few weeks back i come out to my garden for my bi-daily check to see how things are progressing and what do i see?? My asparagus decimated to the point where they are on the brink of death. My first reaction was ‘what is attacking my asaragus?’, and my second thought was ‘how did this happen in such a short time period?
Later that night, i went out to the garden to catch the asparagus-eating culprit in the act and just as expected, there was a flurry of asparagus beetles devouring my asparagus plants. Right then i made it my mission to eliminate these beetles before they ruin my asaparagus beyond repair.
I went into my garage and got my EndALL. Yes the same stuff that i used to eliminate my stink bug problem last time. I was proactive and had a few bottles on hand, just in case my plants got under attack. I sprayed our hungry friends with EndALL to the point of runoff and walked back into the house with a rye smile, knowing that i have just destroyed a large portion of my pests, because i watched many of them die right there! Remember EndALL works ON CONTACT!!
The next day i go out to check on my asparagus plants and see more of our ‘friends’, but the number was probably 30% of the amount from the previous day. I spray the remainder of the beetles and really check the rest of my plants (including my neighboring pepper plants, which beetles have frequented in previous years). Everything else seemed good. I had taken the first battle!
The next day, i go back out to my garden to see how things are going. I see 3 beetles on the entire plant! YES!!! this was great news. i sprayed and eliminated those 3 beetles and had a smile ear to ear. About a week later, (continuing to check on the plants everyday), i start to see some regrowth. The asparagus is coming back!! I know that my harvest will be delayed greatly, but i had won my second battle of my garden. Best part is that it was with the same product both times!! EndALL truly is an amazing product.
